SCOPE Outdoor Environmental
Education Program

The Outdoor Environmental Education Program utilizes the natural environment in a multidisciplinary approach to promote more efficient and effective learning. The program strongly supports the New York State Science Core Curricula by means of direct observations and hands-on learning experiences.

SCOPE offers a variety of programs to schools at sites on Long Island. Program staff can work with school personnel to create exciting programs that strongly support each school's educational objectives.

Special Services

Custom designed in depth program for each individual school. Programs may be specific to one area of the environment, or incorporate many to provide an increased awareness of the diversity on Long Island. Staff and school personnel meet to plan each program.

Native New Yorker
Through hands-on activities and exploration of the natural environment of Caleb Smith State Park, this activity based program teaches elementary students about Long Island Native Americans. The program supports the elementary-level Science and Social Studies Core Curricula.

In-School Science Programs
Eleven programs, specially designed to take place within a school, will allow students to participate in activities about a variety of science subjects. Programs include: astronomy in a portable planetarium, reptiles, and amphibians, food webs and Long Island geology. Programs are available within grade levels 1 through 3, 4 through 6, and 7 through 12.

SCOPE Summer Environmental Challenge Summer Camp
