SCOPE Education Services offers Extended Kindergarten programs that provide children attending half-day Kindergarten with the opportunity to attend a full-day program in the school district. The New York State Office of Children and Family Services licenses all SCOPE Extended Kindergarten child care programs. SCOPE operates programs in public schools on Long Island.
The program focuses on meeting the child's total developmental needs. It is coordinated and articulated with the school district Kindergarten program. Social, emotional, motor, and cognitive growth are fostered through creative expression, arts and crafts, science, math, reading readiness, music, dance, large and small motor coordination, and much more.
The program is open to all Kindergarten students residing in the school district. Students must be enrolled in Kindergarten. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis, limited to 20 students. When necessary, students are placed on a wait list for the next available opening.
All teachers are New York State certified and specialists in Early Childhood Education. Teachers are teamed with trained assistants who are sensitive to the unique qualities and needs of each child. SCOPE teachers participate in professional workshops and attend ongoing staff meetings to share resources and to keep abreast of new trends in education.
Parents pay all fees directly to SCOPE. Please contact SCOPE in order to obtain information regarding available programs and fees for your school district. Fees are subject to change.
SCOPE recruits, screens, hires and compensates all certified teachers and teacher assistants, provides all staff training, provides all program supervision, maintains appropriate insurance coverage for the program, purchases all consumable materials for the program, conducts all necessary student evaluations, maintains all student performance and attendance records, and provides children with a nutritious snack each day.
School District Responsibilities
