SCOPE Education Services provides comprehensive Adult and Continuing Education Programs in various school districts in Nassau and Suffolk counties.  Programs are offered during the day, when space is available, evenings and Saturdays.  In the past year, more than 3700 residents participated in these courses. 
 
Program Overview

SCOPE Adult and Continuing Education programs are open to all persons 18 years of age or older (unless otherwise noted) not attending high school. Each program covers a wide range of interests.  Examples of course offerings are:

  • Computer courses
  • NYSED Coaching Certification Courses
  • Foreign Language courses
  • Adult, child and infant CPR/AED
  • NYS Real Estate Salesperson and Broker courses
  • Safe Boating courses
  • Defensive Driving courses
  • Notary Public Training
  • Medical billing
  • Interpersonal and intrapersonal skill building
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Arts, crafts and hobbies
  • Exercise and fitness
  • Sports

 

Scope Responsibility

SCOPE designs and advertises the program with school district input, collects all fees, conducts a criminal background check of prospective employees, employs and compensates all program staff, secures insurance coverage, and is responsible for management and supervision of the program.  


School District Responsibilities

The school district offers adequate space for the operation of the program, provides custodial services, and permits SCOPE to distribute information regarding the program to residents in the school district.
